The Shops at Don Mills is a busy, polished open-air mall. The kind of place that moves fast and expects you to move with it. Teamendous doesn't. You walk in expecting just another café and instead the whole thing slows down. That's not a small thing in a location like this.
The space
Inside, it leans fully into calm. Minimal, open, and intentionally designed. Very zen without feeling forced. The space is large but doesn't feel empty. There's a quiet attention to detail throughout, especially in the display of teapots and cups, each with its own purpose and placement. The staff take the time to walk you through it, explaining how different cups can change the way tea tastes and feels, which adds a layer of intention you don't usually get at a café. This is a place you come to sit, not grab and go.

There's a solid range of drinks and a few light snacks on display. Didn't try the food this visit, but everything looked clean and well put together. The drink menu is the real draw and the ube matcha is the reason to come.
The cup
The ube matcha was the order and it's what makes this place stand out. Smooth, slightly sweet, and well balanced, with the ube adding a distinct flavour without overpowering the matcha underneath. It's one of the better matcha drinks I've had in a while. Worth noting that I've had their regular matcha before and it didn't leave much of an impression. This version completely changes that. If you're coming here, this is the drink to get. The strawberry is apparently a popular order too, which is on the list for next time.
Worth knowing
The regular matcha is unremarkable. Order the ube or the strawberry on your first visit. The staff are genuinely knowledgeable about their product and worth engaging with. It's a sit-down experience in the truest sense, so come with time rather than on a tight schedule. The location inside the Shops at Don Mills means parking is easy and the surroundings are pleasant, especially in warmer weather.
