Cros Croissanterie has built its reputation on the pastry case, and rightfully so. The croissants are properly laminated, the baked goods selection is extensive, and there's enough on the counter to make ordering difficult in the best way. This is Matcha in the Six though, not Croissant in the Six, so let's talk about the drink.
The cup
The matcha latte is clean. Slightly grassy in the way that signals decent powder. Not the flat beige-green colour that usually means culinary grade poured into a steam wand situation. The milk doesn't overwhelm it. There's enough bitterness to remind you that you're drinking matcha and not just a green-tinted latte.
Come for the croissants, stay for the matcha. Both will exceed your expectations.
Worth knowing
The full drinks menu means there's something for whoever you bring. The baked goods selection makes it a genuine destination rather than a quick stop. Budget a little extra time. You will end up ordering more than you planned.
One of the more complete café experiences in Markham. The matcha is a reason to visit on its own, but the full package makes it easy to recommend to anyone.
